Think SAFETY! Some of these rules may seem silly to you but are very important to Little League

  • Helmets must stay on players all the way to the dugout.

  • Only 1 player out of the dugout with a bat between innings at Majors and below.

  • 2 players can be out of the dugout between innings at Juniors but make sure they are not swinging bats in close proximity to each other.

  • Catchers must wear a helmet when warming up a pitcher in the bullpen.

  • Catchers must wear a helmet when participating in infield warm-ups.

  • Coaches DO NOT warm up pitchers.

  • Players and coaches stay in the dugouts. Coaches do not converse with spectators.

  • Base coaches stay in dugouts until last warm up pitch is thrown.

  • No jewelry of any kind. Required medical devices are OK but coaches should inform umpires of then before the game.

  • Enforce the District 2 Thrown Bat Policy and the Physical Contact Policy.

Umpires: Please start to enforce these rules by warning players and coaches. If a player becomes a repeat offender ask the coach to remove the player from the game before ejecting the player. An ejection requires a player or coach to miss the next game in addition to the remainder of the current game. A coach can be in jeopardy of ejection too if he/she repeatedly refuses to help enforce these safety rules.

NVLL follows all Interleague Rules.

They talk about time limits, run limits, continuous batting order.

Please feel free to contact our League Umpire in Chief at tom.mesenbrink@hp.com or at 989-7278 with any questions or comments.

The Little League District 2 staff has scheduled the umpire training clinics for this spring.  Please see the District 2 Umpire web site at http://www.eteamz.com/goid2/news/index.cfm?cat=512547.  We have two Rules clinics and one Mechanics clinic scheduled in Nampa for our league's convenience, however, any of the other Rules or Mechanics clinics in the valley can be leveraged for certification.

  • All umpires must attend one of the Mechanics Clinics.
  • Umpires in their first or second year of umpiring must also attend one of the Rules clinics.  (Even though the Rules clinic is not required for umpires that have umpired three or more years, it is strongly encouraged that they still attend.)
Please remember that anyone willing to help umpire baseball or softball must be certified before umpiring any games.  Please ensure you have filled out a volunteer application (located on the NVLL Volunteer web page) and turned it into anyone on the NVLL board."
