2010 Baseball and Softball
Interleague Rules
are now posted on the Idaho District 2 web site
at
http://www.eteamz.com/goid2/handouts/index.cfm?cat=156070
Teams should review the rules pertinent to their
division and print out a copy of these rules to
keep with them.
Additional baseball and softball rule changes
were implemented by the 25th Little League
International Congress last w
eek. A summary of
those changes are provided below.
|
|
Baseball Rule Changes
-
Reg. IV (a) - Minimum age for Tee Ball
players is now league age 4 years old.
-
Reg. VI (a) - Any player that has played
catcher for 4 or more innings may not pitch
for the remainder of that day. This applies
to all divisions. (This rule compliments
the existing rule that prohibits pitchers
from playing catcher if they've thrown 41 or
more pitches.)
-
Reg. VI (k) - Jr and Sr players may pitch in
up to 2 games a day providing they don't
pitch more than 30 pitches in the first
game.
Softball Rule Changes
-
Reg. IV (a) - Minimum age for Tee Ball
players is now league age 4 years old.
-
Reg. IV (a) - If a 12 yr old league age
player participates in at least 60% of the
Majors and Juniors games from each division,
that player is eligible to play all-stars
for either Majors or Juniors.
-
1.07 - Sr. and Big League pitching distance
is now 43 ft instead of 40 ft.
-
2.00 - Bunt definition; holding the bat in
the strike zone
is
considered an attempted bunt. The batter
must pull back their bat if they want to
take the pitch. This applies to all
divisions.
-
6.09 (b) - Majors batters can steal first on
a dropped 3rd strike just like Jrs are able
to do now.
-
7.08 (a) (5) - Majors runners can leave
their base when the pitcher releases the
ball instead of when the ball reaches the
batter.
-
8.03 (c) - Jr, Sr, and Big League pitchers
must pitch 4 balls to a batter to walk them
instead of waiving them to first base
without any pitches.

Think SAFETY! Some of these rules may
seem silly to you but are very important to Little League
-
Helmets must stay on players all
the way to the dugout.
-
Only 1 player out of the dugout
with a bat between innings at Majors and below.
-
2 players can be out of the
dugout between innings at Juniors but make sure they are
not swinging bats in close proximity to each other.
-
Catchers must wear a helmet when
warming up a pitcher in the bullpen.
-
Catchers must wear a helmet when
participating in infield warm-ups.
-
Coaches DO NOT warm up pitchers.
-
Players and coaches stay in the
dugouts. Coaches do not converse with spectators.
-
Base coaches stay in dugouts
until last warm up pitch is thrown.
-
No jewelry of any kind. Required
medical devices are OK but coaches should inform umpires
of then before the game.
-
Enforce the District 2 Thrown Bat
Policy and the Physical Contact Policy.
Umpires: Please start to enforce
these rules by warning players and coaches. If a player
becomes a repeat offender ask the coach to remove the player
from the game before ejecting the player. An ejection
requires a player or coach to miss the next game in addition
to the remainder of the current game. A coach can be in
jeopardy of ejection too if he/she repeatedly refuses to
help enforce these safety rules.
NVLL follows all Interleague Rules.
They talk about time limits, run
limits, continuous batting order.
