Top 30 2020 Rankings

After watching hundreds of hours and games, our staff has compiled our initial Top 30 rankings of the 2020 class, highlighting the best Sophomores of the Tri-Regions.

Unanimously, the 6'7" super athlete Greg Brown, is the number one prospect in the area, and in our eyes, the State of Texas. He's a
5 Star blue chip recruit, who is a Top 10 national talent. His athleticism, height, length, underrated defensive prowess, and still developing an offensive skill set that now includes solid range, made him a no-brainer as the top prospect in our Tri-Regions.

Behind him is Breon Thompson, a 6'6" wing with similar traits to Brown. Is an above average athlete who slashes to the hoop and excels in the open court. Has shown improvement in his perimeter game and has stretched out his range to the three point line. an underrated rebounder and does have an impact in the paint when playing defense because of his length. Has already picked up offers from UTSA and Oral Roberts.

A trio of guards make up the Top 5. Caleb Golden is a shooting guard who can light up the score sheet very quickly. He has a jump shot that goes beyond the arc, and because of his quickness, can slash, attack and finish at the hole. An above average athlete who will also get after you on the defense end, and is our highest rated two guard in the rankings.

The top rated point guard is Jamal Shead, who is a game changing floor leader in every sense of the word. Such a high IQ and understanding of how to run a team for the youngster. Doesn't force the issue, precision passer, who knows how to read the floor and defenses. What makes him even more effective is that he can score the rock almost as good as anyone else. Will fire away from outside and can hit the trey consistently. Good frame and has grown a few inches since his initial ranking last season.

Derek Luna, the top rated player in the Rio Grande Valley, rounds out our Top 5. A versatile combo guard who has unlimited range and the ability to score in all facets are strong parts of his skill set. Deceptively quick, and his ability to get by defenders and into the paint is impressive. Smart decision making, and his smarts let him impact the game in many ways, can do more than just score. Plays aggressive defense and his ball handling ability allow him to comfortably play the point when needed.
